Phil Gordon's Little Blue Book

Over the summer, I read the non-fiction book, Phil Gordon's Little Blue Book: More Lessons and  Hand Analysis in No Limit Texas Hold 'em. This is a book about many of Phil Gordon's experiences in poker along with the lessons he learned, teaching the reader about poker. I found the book interesting in its detail to the game and strategies used. I liked the book because not only were Gordon's poker narrations interesting but it taught be to be a stronger player. In each narration Phil clearly explain's how he could or couldn't use a certain strategy teaching the reader while entertaining him or her with the tension of the game as if one was watching over his shoulder. Throughout the book he will pick one player on the board and explain the players mindset and able himself to win. After every story he does a wrap up with the key lesson of the previous hand and states reasonable tactics. With great voice in humor in his writing, Gordon informs and entertains the reader and if you like poker, you will enjoy this book.

I read the Hunger Game as one of my summer reading books. Originally, I did not want to read it; but my sister told me how good it was so I decided to read the Hunger Games. I learned my sister was correct because of how much I enjoyed it. The Hunger Games is an action packed story about an unfortunate nobody, named Katniss Everdeen, entered into the battle of her life. In this battle she is faced with 24 other kids to fight to the last alive. Along Katniss' path she faces many struggles and troubles to win this battle with her partner / "lover," Peeta Mellark. I like how the author united Peeta and Katniss at the end as the champions of the Hunger Games as a team and a couple. This ending was foreshadowed when Peeta announced his love for Katniss during the interviews before the games. It showed Peeta's affection and effort to win the games. I truly enjoyed the book and admire Suzane Collin's writing.
